Hello fellow curators! I’d like to start a dialogue about university instructors/scholars who teach Curatorial Studies/Discourses or this topic within academia in general. I live in Canada but I’ve studied in the UK and US - before instructing post-secondary I worked as a contemporary art curator - I hold an MA in Art History, no PhD. My question is whether or not any curators in this forum find it challenging to continue to gain professional experience curating exhibitions if the majority of their time is spent teaching its practice as an academic subject?
Hi, yes is the answer to this from me, but another frustration is that most curating jobs seem to be full time so hard to do alongside teaching, which is also most often part time. Sorry more challenges rather than solutions!
